FileToFit compresses videos to help them fit upload limits. This page explains what information FileToFit may collect, why it is used, and how temporary video files are handled.
Information FileToFit May Collect
FileToFit may collect account and service information such as:
- Name and email address.
- Account role and account status.
- Signup age confirmation timestamp.
- Login and session information.
- Uploaded file name, file type, file size, file extension or format, MIME type, media codecs, bitrate, resolution, and frame rate.
- Selected target size or General Compression mode, selected preset, output format and codec, compression priority, and actual output size.
- Upload and compression timestamps, job status, queue state, and failure reason if compression fails.
- User agent or browser information.
- IP address, hashed IP address, session-related identifiers, or abuse-prevention signals, depending on the implementation.
- Usage counts within the configurable rolling job-quota monitoring window.
How Information Is Used
FileToFit uses this information to:
- Create and manage accounts.
- Confirm account eligibility, including that signup users confirm they are at least 13 years old.
- Send verification emails and password reset emails.
- Provide the compression service.
- Show compressed videos in the user's library.
- Enforce upload-size limits and apply configurable quota protections.
- Debug failed jobs and improve compression presets.
- Watch queue safety, service load, and retention cleanup.
- Detect abuse, suspicious usage, repeated uploads, queue-limit pressure, or malicious behavior.
- Maintain service security and reliability.
- Support accounts and manually review account restrictions when needed.
- Generate admin-only usage analytics, such as total users, total videos compressed, popular compression priorities or presets, failure rates, rejected upload reasons, target sizes, output formats, aggregate device/browser/OS summaries, and usage by account type.
Advertising Measurement
FileToFit may use Google Ads measurement technology, including cookies or similar browser signals, to understand whether ads are working and to measure ad-related visits or conversions. This helps FileToFit understand advertising performance.
This advertising measurement is not used by FileToFit admins to inspect users' private files. FileToFit does not track, expose, preview, play, download, or sell user file contents through advertising tools.
Video Storage
Original uncompressed uploads are deleted after compression finishes or fails. FileToFit does not intend to permanently store original uncompressed videos.
Anonymous compressed outputs are temporary and expire 1 hour after completion. Compressed outputs for logged-in users are stored in their library for 6 hours, then deleted.
File Contents
FileToFit does not intend to view, watch, download, sell, reuse, publish, or manually review the contents of users' original or compressed files.
Admin Review And Analytics
Admin tools are intended to show metadata only. Metadata may include filename, file type, file size, MIME type, selected target or General Compression mode, input/output format and codec, bitrate, resolution, frame rate, compression priority, output size, timestamps, job status, queue state, failure or rejection reason, user type, account reference, aggregate device/browser/OS summary, user agent hash, IP address or hashed IP address if implemented, and usage counts.
FileToFit admins cannot preview, play, download, or inspect the contents of users' uploaded or compressed files through the admin tools. Admin tools are limited to metadata needed for security, debugging, analytics, account support, abuse prevention, queue safety, and service reliability.
Admins may review usage logs, failed-job metadata, suspicious activity signals, and account status history manually. These tools are for review and service protection; they are not automatic bans.
User Responsibility
Users should not upload files they do not have the right to upload.
Updates
This page may be updated as FileToFit improves. If important changes are made, the date/version at the top of this page will be updated.
